The Town of Maida, Italy

The Society of Saint Francis has its roots in Maida, Italy.  There, the origins of the festival for Saint Francis were initiated.  Since the the town of Maida considers Saint Francis to be its patron, it devotes much time and energy to honor him.  Much of the community of the Society can trace their roots to Maida.  The Society also follows much of the same traditions that the people of Maida have initiated.
